Chief Emily Whetung MacInnes says she’s not worried about leaving a legacy and wants to focus on improving her community
Since earning the title of chief of Curve Lake First Nation, Emily Whetung MacInnes’ two young boys have taken to calling her “chief mom.”
“We have a really incredible community,” says Chief Whetung MacInnes. “They supported me through everything.”
On June 18 it was announced Whetung MacInnes had won her community’s election.
On Wednesday, July 3, her second day as chief, she moved into her new office and was working on getting briefed on various community projects and issues.
